What’s coming in the next update?
The next update is still 3 weeks away, but we’re seeing some nice additions to the staging branch. The changes can be seen with the Rust staging version or later today on the Rustafied update preview stream.
The devs have been busy with the new Chinook helicopter event. As a part of this, the helicopter has been made mountable. It doesn’t do much on Vanilla, but since the devs want the npc’s to be able to get into the heli, they had to build it in. And it makes it easy for developers to create plugins/mods with the ability to players or admins to mount the heli easily.
Also the sedan car has the ability to have passengers. Mods already enabled this, but it’s possible without mods to enter the vehicle with this update.
Hairdo’s have been improved, especially when TSSAA anti-aliasing is turned off. It also has the added benefit of making hair color more natural and diverse.
Monuments will be getting more interesting – and puzzling – in April as Vince continues his work on the new monument puzzles. Aimed at blocking access to high tier loot behind a set of challenges, these puzzles may require players to do a bit more planning prior to certain loot runs.
Several improvements have been made to Savas and Hapis maps.
We’ll see more updates in the coming weeks as the forced wipe will be on April 5th.
