Big changes coming in tonights update
Who thought that the big changes after the Animal AI were over, is magically wrong. Not only will this update force the monthly wipe, it also has two big game changers incoming.
Scrap crafting and components
Scraps will enable you to craft components with the research table, just as Facepunch tried with the blueprints before. This is sort of like that. Drop a component and some scrap on a research table and try your luck. The more scrap (fragments) added, the higher percent chance of returning a component. You can find scraps throughout the map in barrels (chance of 1) and boxes (chance of 5-10). You can also recycle components to get scraps.
With the below amounts of scrap, you will craft the component 100%. Recycling the component, gives you 1/10 of the scraps back.
Item | Crafting amount | Recycles |
Gears | 30 scrap | 3 scrap |
Metal Blade | 10 scrap | 1 scrap |
Metal Pipe | 20 scrap | 2 scrap |
Sheet Metal | 20 scrap | 2 scrap |
Propane Tank | 10 scrap | 1 scrap |
Metal Spring | 50 scrap | 5 scrap |
Road Sign | 20 scrap | 2 scrap |
Tech Trash | 100 scrap | 10 scrap |
Semi Automatic Body | 50 scrap | 5 scrap |
SMG Body | 75 scrap | 6 scrap |
Rifle Body | 100 scrap | 10 scrap |
Tarp, sewing kits and rope cannot be crafted.
The cost of a research table are quite high: 1000 frags, 25 high quality metal and 5 sheet metal.
Building Blocked zones
The second big change in this update will be the building blocked zones. They blocked you from building or placing anything in that cupboard radius. Now, following tonights update, you will always be able to place ladders and twigs in building blocked zones. This changes the way you should build and secure your loot, since players can now always get into your compound or on your roof. Building walls without roofing off your roof is not an option anymore.
Cupboards now basically serve one purpose: to avoid getting griefed. They don’t block building, raid towers, or ladder placement at all.
Update feed
There is also a new update feed. It replaces the old @RustUpdates twitter-account. You can check it out here.
